Welcome! I am Giulio Severijnen, a postdoctoral researcher at the Basque Center on Cognition, Brain and Language (BCBL) in Donostia/San Sebastián, Spain. My research focuses on understanding how humans learn, perceive language and adapt to variability in language. At the BCBL, I am working with Dr. Efthymia Kapnoula, focussing on understanding the cognitive mechanisms involved in perceptual learning in segments and prosody.

Previously, I was postdoctoral researcher at the International School for Advanced Studies (SISSA) in Trieste, Italy, where I worked with Prof. Davide Crepaldi on the the neural mechanisms of statistical learning and reading. Before that I was a PhD candidate at the Donders Institute for Brain, Cogntition, and Behaviour/Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics, working with Prof. James McQueen, Dr. Hans Rutger Bosker, & Dr. Ashley Lewis. Here I investigated how people deal with between-talker variability in prosody.
